About the Artist
As an artist, curator, teacher and gallerists; Mary Wheeler has successfully worn many hats.
Now dividing her time between New York City and upstate New York, Mary has focused on painting predominantly, but also keeps her hand in making and creating her jewelry designs for which she was well known for many years.
She opened her gallery in 2012 which represented over 50 artists. She curated many successful solo and group shows, and was busy teaching various art classes at Hudson Valley Community College, Schenectady Community College, Shenendehowa Continuing Ed, and The Art Center of the Capital Region, helping artists find their voice and style as well as honing their skills.
Mary continues jury numerous gallery shows and high end craft shows throughout the state including the tulip festival in Albany NY.
After closing her gallery, Mary started painting again.
Working in acrylic paint, as well as mixed media. Mary's style and subject matter vary from abstract to city scapes and landscapes in an impressionistic and abstract style.
Mary has been in several group as well as solo shows at The Martinez gallery, Sand lake Center of the Arts, The Art Center of the Capital region, Pink Gallery, and Greenpoint Gallery. She is also represented on 1st dibs by Martinez Gallery.
Continuing to explore creative avenues in her work; has resulted in a style that is varied and unique, giving each piece a life of its own.
